Battery Council International (BCI) is a not-for-profit trade association formed to promote the interests of an international lead battery industry. BCI has over 175 members worldwide engaged in every facet of the industry. Included are lead battery manufacturers and recyclers, marketers and retailers, suppliers of raw materials and equipment, plus expert industry consultants. As the industry's principal trade group, BCI member services have worldwide market impact.
BCI's Role in Recycling
BCI actively educates state and federal officials about the battery manufacturing and recycling industries in an effort to enact uniform battery recycling requirements. BCI also provides technical assistance to states when implementing battery recycling programs.
Since 1990 BCI has published an annual battery recycling rate study that documents the industry's progress in increasing the overall battery recycling rate.
